Gas Emergency Response
The National Gas Emergency Response Advisory Committee (NGERAC) was established in May 2005 as part of a Memorandum of Understanding on the National Gas Emergency Response Protocol. The NGERAC comprises representatives of governments and all sectors of the gas industry and gas users. The Committee is responsible for:
- Ensuring that natural gas supply interruptions are managed in a nationally consistent manner.
- Providing advice to jurisdictions on efficient and effective management responses (including use of Emergency Powers by jurisdictions) in the event of a major natural gas supply shortage.
- Assessing the risks and impacts of major natural gas supply shortages.
