Australian Energy Market Operator advice on shared market protocol (May 2015)

Publication date: Friday, 01st May 2015.

In October 2013, officials submitted the Expanding Competition in Metering and Related Services rule change request to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC), as directed by the former Standing Council on Energy and Resources. To support this rule change request, the COAG Energy Council asked the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to provide advice on implementing the recommendations from the AEMC's work on smart meter access and communications, particularly regarding development of a 'shared market protocol' for smart meter communications in the National Electricity Market.

AEMO provided its advice on smart meter minimum functionality to the Council in November 2014, and on the shared market protocol in March and May 2015.
