Consumer Access to Their Energy Data Rule Change Request (October 2013)

Publication date: Friday, 18th October 2013.

In October 2013, officials submitted the Consumer Access to Their Energy Data Rule Change Request to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) as directed by the former Standing Council on Energy and Resources. The rule change request sought to clarify the rights of customers and their agents to request energy data, and   obligations on market participants to provide this data.

Outcomes of recent work on privacy have been included in the rule change request to the AEMC on customer access to data. The request addresses market participants’ obligations to inform customers about who has access to their energy data and how it is used.
